Greater Than
From Sudopedia
Jump to navigationJump to searchA Greater-Than Sudoku has no givens. Instead, there are greater-than (>) signs between some adjacent cells, which signify that the digit in one cell should be greater than another. All other ordinary Sudoku rules apply.
A simple tip for people to get started. Lets say we have cells A, B, C, with A > B > C. If A has no greater-than sign pointing to it, then the maximum value of A is 9, the maximum value of B is 8, and the maximum value of C is 7. Similarly, if there are no greater-than sign pointing from C, then the minimum value of C is 1, the minimum value of B is 2, and the minimum value of A is 3.
